School libraries are places for learning and thinking, and play a key role in supporting and developing enjoyment of reading and multiple literacies. They are an important part of the school community

Reading improves vocabulary, generates better interpersonal skills and so better communication and also gives problem solving skills. It thus fosters creativity. Strong reading habits enhance analytical thinking and better literacy.

Our students have access to a well-supported school library, a well-ventilated, spacious, clean and tidy room, graded rate A by Private Secondary Schools Authority (PSSA). It forms an important part of school life and serves both teachers and pupils. Equipped with cupboards, book shelves, reading tables and chairs, it has a rich collection of fiction books, reference books, encyclopaedias, dictionaries, daily newspapers and regular magazines with a classification scheme.

The school library provides a range of learning opportunities. It is a fundamental resource for supporting students’ learning, and a key support for teaching staff. The school library also serves as a place for students to do independent work, use computers, equipment and research material.

“ A sanctuary, a mine of treasure, a house of maps to secret lives in secret words… the library became my other home.” Joy Cowley
