AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

With the reform in the educational stream, Windsor College Girls has set up prevocational classes since January 2004 with the aim to empower the Certificate of primary Education (CPE) drop-outs through literacy and numeracy.  It has been observed that the students, though slow learners, are good at other skills.  Many of them have hidden talents that need to be explored.

Frankly speaking, in the prevocational class, patience is the key to success.  Both teachers and students need to be patient in order to reach the target.  We emphasize on activity-based learning where the student learns by doing some activities rather than the chalk and talk method.  We also encourage self-learning, peer learning and group learning in a relaxed competition-free and pleasant learning environment.  Moreover we organize outings for these students who enjoy being outside the four walls of the classroom in a cheerful mood.

It is to be noted with satisfaction from all parties, namely students, teachers and the management that many students attending the prevocational stream at Windsor College Girls achieve success at the CPE examinations.  This allows them to integrate successfully the mainstream.  It is worth mentioning   Ms Moufidah Keenoo, an ex-prevocational student who scored 4A s and 1B at CPE.  She also participated in an essay-writing competition organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in 2006 and won the third prize.

With the necessary love and care, we are of opinion that these students may improve their ability significantly with flying colors in their academic examinations. Where there is a will there is a way.
