Science is the study of natural things around us. When we study science, we study the natural things that happen in our world and see how they affect our lives. Through science we also learn how to use things around us to make life easier. From the study of science, we learn to solve problems and to improve our surroundings.

The approach used at Windsor college is enquiry-based, that is, the stress is on discovery teaching-learning situations with pupil participation and appropriate teacher guidance. Emphasis is laid on the development of scientific concepts and the acquisition of necessary skills so as to be able to develop critical thinking. Different strategies are adopted by science educators to boost up interest and participation of students. Some of the techniques used are listed below:

Performing numerous activities to reinforce learning

  • Summarizing basic concepts at the end of every chapter for consolidation and revision purposes

  • Practising wide range of exercises

  • Giving project works

  • Using a variety of illustrations such as drawings, charts, photographs to stimulate interest and provoke thought and discussion

Frequent meetings are held by the department of science to review the teaching strategies to suit the different needs and abilities of the students. Discussions are based on identifying the challenges faced by educators in implementation of the syllabus and to devise appropriate measures to address them.
