Sociology as an optional subject was introduced in the year 2007 in Form IV. Since then it has attracted more and more students each year. In the year 2012 the subject was introduced at HSC level both as a subsidiary and main option.

 

AIMS & OBJECTIVES OF SOCIAL SCIENCE:

  • Aims to develop an awareness among pupils about social and cultural diversity

  • Enhance the ability of students to compare and contrast different societies.

  • Improve skills of communication, interpretation, analysis and evaluation.

 

CAREER OPTIONS IN SOCIOLOGY.

  • There are numerous career options open to sociology graduates such as

  • Social Work

  • Criminal Justice

  • Employment Counselling

  • Community Relations Specialists

  • Statisticians

  • Market Research

  • Public Affairs Officers

 

The future appears bright for sociology. The next century may be the most exciting and critical period in the field’s history. Some of the best employment prospects may be in policy research and administration, in Clinical and Applied Sociological practice, as well as in the traditional areas of teaching and basic research.
